This was my first involvement in a professional production.
This Land is the story of American Folk singer, Woody Guthrie, who composed and performed folk ballads throughout the Dust Bowl and employment crises of the 1930s.
My skills were needed to buy, distress, sew and dye classic rural American clothing of the 1930s-50s. For much of the white clothing, tea and coffee staining was used to age and distress the garments. Much research was done between me and the fabulous creative designer, Pedro Sanchez Cervera- as to what stages of Woody's life the costumes needed to represent, as well as how to connect the actors to the role of Woody continuously throughout the show.
The final images show my hair design and prop organization which was needed for the very quick changes to run smoothly.
